Why We Play
David Schaefer was a 22-year-old student at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management when he tragically lost his life in an auto accident on October 4, 2010.
He was an incredibly fun and inspiring person to be around, and as his longtime friends, we decided to create the DBS Memorial Scholarship to honor his legacy and raise money for a great cause.
Since David had a strong passion for both golf and the hospitality industry, it was only fitting that we establish the DBS Memorial Golf Tournament, with all tournament proceeds going toward the fully-endowed scholarship in his name at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.
Since the DBS Memorial Scholarship fund was created we’ve raised over $89,000 while handing out 49 scholarships to Rosen College students.
We’re grateful to be able to open more doors for current and future students at the Rosen College through this scholarship and hope that you’ll be a part of it as we look to eclipse the $100,000 mark in year 15!
